Brand Anthem

As our first foray into TV, we wanted to create the core expression of Codecademy’s evolved brand identity. To do this, we looked at the questions society began to ask itself after the COVID pandemic, as well as the conversations in our own user forums, and noticed a recurring theme: people were re-evaluating their relationship with work.

They were re-thinking what it meant to have a career, what that career gave to and took from them, and what it’d take to change all that. So for this spot, we boiled those conversations down to one hypothetical question — then gave it a literal, undeniable, action-oriented answer. Shot over the course of two days in Los Angeles, the long form became our brand anthem and the 30s and 15s versions were used on TV and paid social.
